10 Must – haves in your handbag

Hola chicas.weekend is here, and I can imagine the enthusiasm you guys are having about it. I have no weekend plans. Its boring here in my hometown. **snore**. I am trying not to take heavy dinners and concentrating on having veggies and soup.
Anywhoo, I was rearranging my handbag and thought of the amount of stuff I keep in my bag(which is a lot!). I realised all of it is important and I cannot do without them. No matter how much men criticise about our big bags, they eventually use most of the stuff we have.
I have listed the ten most important things that you ought to have in your handbag.
1. Hairbrush
Do I even need to say why you need a hairbrush in your bag?
2. kohl
Kohl brightens our eye and when you are going to be out for a long time, it could be your best friend and make you look fresh.
3. Lip balm
Lip balm is very important. You don’t want people to see you with chappy lips!
4. Lipstick/lipgloss
Haven’t we heard the thing about running into your worst enemy when you are badly dressed. Well this could be your saving grace. A lipstick just brightens the face and gives you the instant glam.
5. Compact
You need this for the same reasons above.
6. Grip/ rubber band
You leave your home looking like an actress with your locks hanging down and dancing around with bouncy hair. Then you face the reality, the wind doesn’t make you look like a heroine, it only messes up your hair. Also its so hot that you wish you were bald. Rubber band is your superman!
7. Spray rose water
Leaving from work and suddenly your bf/friend asks you to meet them. Wanna look fresh? Spray some rose water on your face and you ll look and feel fresh. You now see how important kohl, lippie and compact could be?
8. Tissue
I cannot list its immense importance. YOU NEED THIS BABY!
9. Sunglasses
I do not leave home without sunglasses. Its one thing that is super stylish and super essential at the same time.
10. Small diary and a pen
Phone to-do lists don’t work for me. Also being a blogger means anything could inspire you and you need to write it down.
I carry a few more stuff than I mentioned. But these are the most important ones. Please don’t say I did not mention mobile phone. Thats obvious and also the wallet or your keys.
What do you all generally have in your handbags? Anything different? Swiss knife? Pepper spray? 😛 Let me know if you carry something interesting like Swiss knife.

Wearable FALL/WINTER trends 2013

Hey lovelies, how are you doing? I am doing ok. My birthday was a disaster. And coining it ‘THE WORST BIRTHDAY EVER!’ wouldn’t be wrong. But I did pamper myself and shopped a lot. I kept in mind the FALL trends and bought some pretty clothes and make up.

We must not follow trends blindly.Well we have heard this statement  a ghazillion times but we sometimes become victims of fashion. Thigh high boots are major runway favorite this F/W’13, but let’s face it, its not practical to wear them here in India. Wearing them just because they are trendy is foolishness. Its not that cold here in India. Not even in Kashmir!(except Leh though!).
Anyways thats the reason My post title has the word ‘wearable’. I am listing a few FALL trends to revamp your wardrobe for FALL.
FALL colours:

The moment you hear Fall, you think oxblood is THE colour! Not this year ladies. Hues of green(pantone colour), purple, scarlet and navy and royal blues are the colours you need to OD on this Fall. Apart from Winter staples like black and grey, fill your wardrobe with these colours. They look brilliant.

Minimalism:

Now this is something I loved. No drama in clothes and simple sleek cuts, crisp shirts with well tailored trousers and beautiful trench coats is something we saw. This kind of look is great for office and formal looks. Who said office has to be boring? Minimalism with style is how I like!

Slogos:

Well that’s not something I coined, I also don’t know who coined it. But I like it!. Well slogos are t-shirts with slogans or anything written on them. So to add some quirk to those gloomy days slogos come in handy. They are available in colours and with funny things written on t-shirts. I am going to OD on this trend. Cant blame myself!

Winter Whites:

Yes, you read that right! I know whites are completely reserved for the summers, but this time the designers decided to break the rules and went for whites this winter. Well if you are a rule follower, then you may not like this. But a person like me who loves her whites, couldn’t be happier!

Plaid,tartans and checks:

The designers took inspiration from the men’s closet and decided to use checks and plaids in their collection. While androgyny has a become a huge roar these days, they took it one step ahead with a variety of checks and plaid. I know there is not a very fun way of wearing plaid, but it makes very good for a meeting or any formal occasion, where you want to look fashionable yet formal.

Slick straight hair and minimal make up:

I absolutely love the hair and make up trends for this fall. Its minimal make up, light blushed pink cheeks, light eye shadow and bold or nude lips. And my poker straight hair is like a boon because this fall slick staright wet hair is being embraced! All that I love about make up and hair put together in one season. Me likes!

straight hair and slicked back ponytail
soft make up with bold or nude lips
metallic and subtle smokey eyes

These trends are pretty wearable and buy investment pieces which are classics and can be recycled and reused. I did not mention COATS, because its very obvious and staple for the winters. If you want me to do a post on where to buy trendy clothes and how to wear them, then leave a comment or shoot me a mail.

The Faux Bob

Hola! I see people with bob cuts and cannot help but think about the time when I had a bob as a child, just like Anna Wintour with front bangs. I loved my hairstyle, and having naturally poker straight hair, bangs and bob really suited me. But as I became a teenager, I wanted to grow my hair and wanted long hair like Rapunzel. I have always had medium length hair until lately, where suddenly something happened with my hair and they grew real fast. Even though I love my long locks, I miss my short bob and front bangs.
Personally, I love women who have bob haircuts. Bobs look very chic and stylish. And I have only seen really confident and stylish women having bobs at a mature age. While I love bob cut hair, I do not have the courage to cut my hair short. But my love for bob awakened when I saw Ritu Arya’s blog and her super chic bob haircut. I complimented her and she said graciously accepted it and suggested me to go get a bob done considering I have straight hair as it looks really nice. But ofcourse I do not have the courage. But then she mentioned to me that in her recent post she featured a faux bob! And I was like ‘whaaaaaaaat!!!’ . I loved it! And I immediately searched youtube for tutorial ‘HOW TO MAKE A FAUX BOB’. So many people have uploaded videos and I thought in my head, ‘whoa, I din’t even know so many people know how to do this’. Anywhoo I saw a lot of videos, but found a famous hair vlogger Luxyhair’s video the most helpful.

You can see her video here. Its very helpful and so easy.

So this is how my faux bob looked. Surprisingly it looked so real and so neat. I trolled a lot of people by sending my picture and saying I got my hair cut short. They were super shocked and my bestie even screamed at me! It was fun.

Look how neat and real it looks from  the behind.

I suggest everybody to try this. It was so nice to look myself in the mirror with short hair. I am going to try this again.

If you try this too, then please do share your experience and pictures.

Pantone’s Colour of the year

Hello you lovely people. I haven’t had been blogging regularly because of lot of personal issues and time issues. Let’s just say I’m dealing with a lot of bad things and just trying to overcome every problem I’m facing. That’s how life should be, don’t you agree?

If you are new to fashion let me tell you that every year a colour is chosen by Pantone which is followed by designers and all the fashion people.(please google for further info). So this year the colour is EMERALD GREEN. I am totally in love with the colour. Whenever I hear Emerald green the word sophistication pops into my mind.

I am listing down a few ways as to how you can incorporate this elegant colour into your wardrobe.

1. JEWELRY :

The best way to start wearing this colour is as jewelry. Emerald green colour stones and beads are my favourites. Emerald jewelry has been a Red carpet favourite for many celebs. If you want small doses of this colour, then wearing jewelry or accessories of the colour is the best option.

This is a perfect piece for the girls to wear it with casual as well as formal outfits. This beauty is available on stylefiesta.com

2. CLOTHES :

Emerald green is such a colour which is bright and elegant at the same time. I am definitely going to buy a blouse or a maxi skirt of this colour tone. Emerald green would be apt for a dinner date. If you have a sober party to attend. you can wear long flowy gowns and for a simple outing you could wear blouses and tops of this colour. I absolutely would love to wear bottoms of the colour too. I have picked out a few items from MANGO India’s official site which are perfect for a fashionable outing (the best part is they are on sale!).

3. SHOES AND BAGS :

If you do not want to wear and entire green outfit or if you feel the colour washes you out or whatever the reason may be, you could wear it in doses, in form of shoes or bags. I love emerald green suede pumps when it comes to shoes and slings and totes when it comes to bags. They just lift up the outfit and give a different look to the entire ensemble.
See how Rachel Bilson does her Green bag with a neutral outfit.

4. COSMETICS :

When it comes to cosmetics I am not very experimental. But I would love to incorporate this beautiful green in the form of eye liner. I even have this colour and I love it. Also for a festive look, I liked the combination of green with gold on my eyes. It made my eyes look big and pretty.

These are few ways how you can incorporate this trendy colour into your wardrobe. If you have other ideas do share.

LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL- REVIEW

So this dumbhead lazy (me), finally has a product review after ages. Its not that I haven’t bought anything, just that I’m too busy lazy to write a review. But then I thought I should stop being too LAZY and write a review.
I saw the ads of LAKME eyeconic kajal and the fact that Kareena was there, it tempted me a lot and so I went ahead and purchased this kajal.
BRAND- LAKME
RANGE- Eyeconic
PRODUCT- Kajal
PRICE- INR 199
QUANTITY- 0.3 g
SWATCHES:

This kajal is very smooth, which enables it to be used as an eye liner. Even though the texture is very smooth and creamy, it does not smudge very fast. The roll on stick is great. Its not very loose or tight and does not have the situation where it comes out but never goes back (like Maybelline). The packaging is black in colour and looks good and classy. I like its name, ‘EYECONIC’.

The kajal doesn’t smudge, and stays for atleast 6-7 hours and then starts wearing off. And yes its waterproof (win-win).
AVAILABILITY:   Its available in almost all stores, hence 4.5/5
WILL I REPURCHASE: Not anytime soon. There is nothing wrong in the product, but I’m in the mood of exploring new kajals. 3/5
OVERALL VERDICT:  4/5
All in all, it’s a good product. There is nothing I hate about the product, but there is nothing very great about it, except the fact that it can used as a kajal as well as an eye liner. The quantity is the only issue. But for that price, its decent. I shall buy it again after I will be done with exploring other brands.
But If you are looking for a decent priced, kajal cum eye liner, then go for it!
ITS NOT JUST FASHION, recommends Lakme eyeconic kajal!
