Review ~ Banjara’s Samvridhi Hair Care Range

I spent a good amount of my childhood with my grandparents. Which meant loads of pampering and even more love and care. I remember my grandma giving me a natural and ayurvedic solution for so many problems, right from my hair to my cold. And one thing my grandma was very possessive about, was my hair. She was against using shampoo because of the harsh chemicals present in them. I must admit that I am genetically blessed with good hair. But it requires a lot of care to maintain the hair. So to keep my hair healthy, she used to make a powder of amla, reetha and shika kai for my hair. These are the key ingredients for a soft, silky and strong hair. It was a task to find these ingredients and mix them in correct proportion and finally make it useable. But she made sure I only use natural products on my hair. My heart sinks when I say that my grandma is no more with me. With her, my hair care routine was gone too! My hair had lost its shine and texture. Pollution and constant running doesn’t help either.

But recently I discovered a new hair care range from Banjara’s, called the Samvridhi Hair Care Range. It consists of hair oil and hair pack. The Samvridhi Hair Oil is an amalgamation of several Ayurvedic Herbs in sesam and coconut oil. A classic combination for a strong and healthy hair! The other ingredients are Olive Oil, Bhringraj, Amla, Japa, Henna, Aritha, Shikakai, Brahmi, Neem, Methi, Pippali. A hair oil ‘champi’ has been, is and shall always be the solution for all hair problems. And if you have a hair oil with all the above ingredients, it sure will create magic! Like it did to my hair. My hair has regained its sheen. I also noticed a difference in my hair fall. My hair fall problems have reduced.

I also tried the Samvridhi hair pack. And I wouldn’t be lying if I said that I felt a part of my childhood returned. It has the same ingredients that my grandma used for my hair pack. It also smelt the same! And  boy did it leave my hair looking gorgeous? The best part is I don’t have to use a shampoo after using the pack. The natural cleansers in the pack work their magic! I would like to call this pack ‘Grandma 2.0’. It has everything that my grandma did for my hair, without the hassles of making it. The only concern I had with the product is that it left my hair a little dry. But my hair looked amazing the next day. So if you have dry ends, I would suggest you to use the product a day before any big event.

Will I repurchase – Yes

Overall I absolutely loved the product. A person like me who goes out everyday, has to have her hair on point! Greasy hair is a big no-no. This product actually did make my hair look gorgeous and since it’s full of natural ingredients and free from harsh chemicals, the risk of my hair getting damaged has reduced to a great extent. In this day and age where we are surrounded by products that are filled with bad chemicals, it is nice to see such a good product with natural ingredients. Hence, I would recommend this product to all of you.

A Brogue Affair

A cotton dress or a georgette blouse? I asked myself. And I went with the former. Why? Because it’s earthy, easy and natural. I have to admit that I do love my chiffons and georgettes too, but lately I have been drawn towards cotton, khadi and the like.
To be honest, I don’t have a particular style. One day you would find me wearing a neutral colored outfit, completely minimalistic and the next day I would channel out my inner boho with lots of silver jewellery. Years of blogging and following blogs has brought in this change in me. I truly dress according to my mood.
But I wanted a juxtaposition of both my worlds, my love for traditional cotton and modern dressing. Can you wear a traditional fabric like cotton and still look trendy? Yes! I wore a cotton cape like a dress with classy brogues and a neckpiece. It was as simple as that.

IMG_7319 (2)

A few tips on how to wear and style cotton fabric-
1. If you are wearing a saree, add a broad belt in the same color tone. You can also drape your saree differently to add some edge.
2. If you’re wearing a churidar, play with your dupatta. Show off your dupatta. Don’t forget to overdose on jewellery
3. Have a long cotton kurti? Wear it like a dress! Cinch it with a belt and throw on a denim jacket!
4. Wear a cotton dress with brogues or sneakers.
5. Smokey eyes, lots of kajal, dark lips and jewellery (both silver and contemporary pieces) can easily make your cotton outfit look classy and stylish.
These are a few basic pointers to help you style traditional fabrics without looking boring and simple.

Dark Paradise

This year has been incredibly eventful for me both personally and professionally. I started working, shifted jobs, had a very twisted personal life. Like every year, this year wasn’t very great either. But this year  will be remembered forever! I learnt a lot this year, went through transitions and changed as a person. A better person? I shall judge that with time.

Last year around this time, I moved from blogspot to my very own website. It definitely wouldn’t have been possible without my dear friend Deepak. He encouraged me and did everything, from registering my domain to designing my blog. I can’t thank him enough for supporting me and doing so much for me. Secondly, I would like to thank my photographer Abhijith for helping me with my blog, waking up early in the morning, coming to my place, shooting and then go to work. Lastly, i’m extremely grateful to my friends who have encouraged me so much. They not only helped me with my personal life, but believed in me and encouraged me to do things i’m fond of. I know this sounds like an award acceptance speech, but I am very bad at expressing my feelings directly hence chose my blog to do it.

Enough with the drama, can we discuss the outfit already!?(Trust me, I had this thought on my mind)

Olive green is the colour of the season and I love this shade of green!  It screams autumn/winter. Streetstyle blogs are flooded with olive jackets, camouflage prints, military trend and the like. It is a classy colour and can be paired with any other shade. I chose this studded shirt from Zara. Paired it up with black denims and black heels.

img_6884

I decided to add some more studs to my look and wore these very comfortable studded heels. When it comes to accessories, I like to keep it minimal. I wore a layered golden chain and a subtle bracelet.img_6830

To finish the look, I chose to wear oxblood lips. It’s not winter until you wore berry lips! They are also my favorite shade for lipstick at the moment. It suits every complexion. If you are from medium to dark toned, you must definitely buy a maroon lipstick. A dab of highlighter on my face, flowing hair and i’m done!

img_6834

This outfit is perfect for dinners. Swap your shoes with flats or wedges and it would be perfect for lunches as well!

Yes I have put on a massive amount of weight. I told you, this year wasn’t all that great! And yes, my new year resolution is to lose weight and do many more things. May this year be the ‘it’ year!

Thank you all of you for reading this and being so kind.

Let’s bid adieu to 2016 and welcome 2017 with a hair flip!

Cutting off

Life is nothing but a bag of happy and sad moments. And we have so many people with us, around us to be a part of this bag, share this bag with. We live in a world where we put everything out there. We share everything good or bad, happy or sad on social media. We do not believe in privacy anymore.
We have always read that happiness if shared is doubled and sorrows are divided and all that crap. What if you want to be selfish and don’t want to share it with anybody? Is that wrong? Does that make you a loner? I have lived in four cities with friends in every corner of the country, yet will I be considered a loner if I choose to keep things to myself? I don’t think so! Sometimes I would like to live with myself and my happiness and sorrows without telling it out to the world! Whenever I’m sad, I disconnect with my close ones. I have always done that! I don’t answer calls, I don’t text back unless and until it’s important and I don’t meet them! Does that make me unhealthy? Absolutely not! I feel powerful and strong. It makes me believe that I can handle myself. Its true that you don’t realise how strong you are unless the only option you have is to face it! I also don’t pick up my phone and call someone and say, “Hey im very happy. I got my dream job!” For someone like me who is a chatterbox, you might think it’s difficult. But yes, I do cut off!

Why is it important to cut off?
We are asked to trim our hair every two months for new and better hair to grow. We cut off the rotten part of the fruit to eat the good part. Whenever you meditate, you are asked to put your phone aside, disconnet with people so that you can concentrate, be in the moment, live the moment. Do you realise the importance of cutting off? You need to live and embrace the happiness and sadness of your life. You need to own it. Cutting off doesn’t mean not talking to someone. It means not sharing your thoughts. Your happiness can mean someone’s sadness and your sorrows can make someone happy. You don’t need that negativity in life!
We generally take vacations after big life moments. When you get married, you go for your honeymoon, when you get a job, you take a trip, when you’re sad, you feel like travelling. That is cutting off! Cutting off from your regular life, the people and going somewhere that soothes your mind. If there is anything I would like to do more in the coming years of my life, it would be to cut off from the regular life every now and then and take vacations, watch a movie alone, or just do nothing and spend more time with myself.

EAST COAST at MADRAS SQUARE ~ Review

1452188268126

First of all wish you a very HAPPY NEW YEAR. I hope you had a kick ass start to the year with all those resolutions which we never fulfill , yet make them every year in the hope of achieving them. But then hope is what we believe in right? While the entire world was pledging to diet, I on the other hand went to enjoy an extravagant lunch with fellow foodees to a very stylish place called the EAST COAST AT MADRAS SQUARE at neelangarai. Read what I had (and get jealous) and my review for the same.

potato & leek soup

potato & leek soup

We began with potato leak soup. The soup was creamy yet light. The caramalised onion and leak enhanced the taste of the soup.

IMG_20160103_140101

creole spiced fries

The creole spiced fries were crispy and balanced. The spice was a nice touch. It was served with  mint mayo which was a perfect companion for the fries.

IMG_20160103_140816

tomato & basil bruschetta

I am a lover of bruschetta and this tomato and basil bruschetta was nothing short of tasty. The basil was not very strong and well balanced with the tomatoes.

New folder

mushroom & feta bruschetta

Mushroom and feta bruschetta was my favourite among all the things we had. The mushroom was so light and flavourful. The feta was not very salty hence the exact taste of cheese could be felt. It was just perfect . It was so good that we asked for a second serving!

IMG_20160103_141900

chickpea slider

Chichpea sliders were made like cute little buns and served along with fries. They tasted scrumptious. I never thought chole without the typical indian spicy masala could taste this good.

IMG_20160103_143722

vegetable & cheese sauce bake

A casarole typically a vegetable in cream and cheese sauce bake with herbed rice. If you are a cheese lover the this is a must-have. It was filling too. It was also baked perfectly.

IMG_20160103_144007

margheritta

Now this was the king of all the dishes, the favourite of the masses, the much coveted PIZZA! It was a not-so-basic margherita . Why no-so-basic? Well first of all the dough is prepared in advance and left for fermentation for enhancement. Then the cheese that was used was buffalo mozzarella. And then it is cooked in a terracota oven to add flavour at a very high temparature. And then we get this beautiful and absolutely yummy pizza. I now regret for not eating more. Regrets . Regrets .

IMG_20160103_144659

Aglio E Olio

It is basically a pasta tossed in olive oil with pressed garlic, minced chillies, parsley and topped with parmesan. If you are not a very big fan of tomato sauce and watching your weight and avoiding anything very cheesy and creamy, then this is the best pasta to have.

IMG_20160103_145601

puttanesca

Puttanesca was cooked in slow spicy tomato sauce and tossed with veggies topped with basil and pepper. How I love puttanesca. It has the right balance of tangy and spicy.

IMG_20160103_155132~2

banofee pie

Finally the favourite part of the entire lunch had arrived. It was time for dessert! First we had the banofee pie which was served with ice-cream . It was crispy from the outside and had a banana filling below the whipped cream. The whipped cream was light and enhanced the whole experience. The ice cream had a tinge of cinnamon which added a different flavour to it.

IMG_20160103_155217

theobrama

IMG_20160103_155226

Ok doesn’t that looks yummy? It tasted even yummier. This theobrama is a six layered chocolate cake which has milk chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate sponge, ganache, white chocolate. I individually tasted each layer and couldn’t pick a favourite. All of it was yummy. This is also a must-have and I shall definitely order it in my next visit.

The decor is simple and sophisticated. They took the minimalistic route and nailed it. What I loved the most were the stone sculptures which spoke about the history of our state. I am a lover of such things and was highly impressed.

They also have a cafe, a flower shop, a shop natural beauty products, a furniture store and a few more things. It is a stylish place and for someone like me, I was just mesmerised. It was green and silent and beautiful. A perfect place for a date or a fun time with your family, everything will be perfect here. I am going to take my dad here for he loves good food and a sucker of great ambiance .

Over all it was a great experience dining at East Cost at Madras Square. Special mention for Mathangi who personally took care of us and made sure we taste the best things. The staff was courteous and made our experience even more delightful. I wish it was close to my home so I could visit often. Well some things are worth the pain. Hope to visit the place soon.
