SPRING/SUMMER- Top 5 trends

Trends change with every season. Some trends repeat again and again and yet you do not get bored of seeing them, for example the animal prints. My favourite time of the year has arrived, i.e summers. I do not like it because of the heat ofcourse, but the time where I can see bright yellows and oranges and florals is just so attractive. I have jot down 5 basic spring/summer trends that you can incorporate in your wardrobe for all those fashionable outings.

1.GRAPHICS:

You would have seen tons of pictures of models wearing stripped clothes. Yes stripes right now are very trendy. Not just stripes, checks and optical prints gives illusion. They look trendy and gives you the bonus of making you look even 2 size smaller. Experiment with monochrome or get colourful, graphic prints is a must.

2.FLORALS:

Last year, florals were in trend and they continue to rock the ramps even this year. What’s not to love about them, they are girly, pretty and can be carried from day to night. Florals need not always be printed. Experiment with motifs. They look good for evening wear. Invest in a few floral pieces to make you look chic.

printed florals work well for the day and floral motifs in dark colours look brilliant for nights

3.METALLICS:

Sequins have always been our choice when it comes to parties and there is nothing about them that we dislike. But this summer, ditch the sequins for the lovely metallics. You can choose from silvers, golds and coppers or can look super fashionable by going with colourful metallics. I am definitely buying a colourful metallic piece. If you think metallic clothes isn’t something you can carry well, then buy shoes or bags or accessories. But keep in mind, its just for the night ladies.

4.OVERSIZE:

Ah, now that’s something I like. Who wants to wear tight, skinny clothes when its scorching heat outside. This trend is a keeper. Wear oversized T-shirts, shirts, kaftans, dresses, jackets anything would look good. But to not look really oversized, wear your tops with skinny pants. Curvy people should definitely refrain from wearing everything oversize.

5.TROUSERS/CROPPED PANTS:

Cigarette pants, trousers, cropped pants are what you need to OD on this summer. Cigarette pants with oversized tops look great. Also they make your legs look thinner. Wear ankle length heels with cropped pants, they look great. You can also experiment with ankle cuffs, they are very trendy right now. I personally feel shorter people should avoid pants that are very cropped, because that could make you look shorter. Else, its a must try!

Share your favourite trends this summer and what you are going to incorporate in your wardrobe. I ll write about place where you can easily find these trendy clothes. Till then take care.

Love, Sindhu

WIFW- Best of day 2 part1

Day 2 of Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week was amazing. We could see a lot of unexpected good things by designers who instead of sticking to their forte explored into a different thing and look at what they made!the shows I loved were Tarun Tahiliani, Shantanu Nikhil and Anju Modi, so I couldn’t pick the best of few from their collection,So will put the pics in the next post. But look at what others made.

BODICE BY RUCHIKA SACHDEVA:

The designer used autumn’y colours which was good. But din’t really feel anything good about the collection.

HEMANT AND NANDITA:

Their collection was titled ‘the language of woods’, but frankly dint feel anything woody at all!

absolutely love the cape

love the colour.but doesnt it look like its made out of a curtain?

‘NOT SO SERIOUS’ BY PALLAVI MOHAN:

I liked the fact that she kept in mind that its autumn/winter ,but that does not mean it has to be boring. She used knits in metallic form which is what I loved the most.

SAMANT CHAUHAN:

A fellow blogger tweeted that the show went from biker chic to Anju Modi within few seconds, and I completely agreed. He started off on a good note, but then God knows what came into hid mind and he just flipped it. It was like 2 different designers.

p.s Loved the way its styled!

This is how I wanna dress for fall

URVASHI KAUR:

Her collection was nowhere close to autumn/winter except for the colours. Gul Panag was the showstopper and I also did not like what she wore.

ALPANA & NEERAJ:

What a collection! Liquid leather, greens, reds, studs is what they had in the garments. Drooling over so many pieces from their collection. Best collection of structured pieces. Absolutely in love with it.

RISHTA BY ARJUN:

Hmmm the collection was ok. I like the colour navy blue and thats why I lik this particular piece. This is completely my style.

WIFW- Best of Day 1

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week begun on 13th March 2013, on a great note. The designers showcased their Autmn/Winter 2013 collection. Though the collection was supposed to be autumn/ winter, very rarely the designers made clothes which potrayed ‘autumn/winter’. Nevertheless I liked a few pieces and here are my favourites.

MASABA FOR SATYA PAUL:

I have never been a fan of Satya Paul, but I guess MASABA was what Satya Paul needed. Its the best thing that could happen to the fashion house. Masaba named her collection ‘Every neon counts’. Absolutely love the prints, colours and accessories!

ANAIKKA- KANIKA SALUJA CHOUDHRY:

Anaikka was a collection which potrayed a strong woman. Loved the use of metal and studs. Also loved the colours used, purple and rust. Her collection potrayed her personality.

ANUPAMA DAYAL:

I dint like what she had designed for autumn/winter. It looked more spring/summer. The collection was pret. I just liked this particular piece and what Anupama herself was wearing. Loved the way she had styled her outfit.

SIDHARTHA TYTLER:

Power dressing with understated elegance is how his collection can be described. The shoulders, the motifs, the dark colours looked so apt.

VINEET BAHL:

Vineet Bahl’s collection takes us into a different era. According to me he did autumn/winter in Indian style. His collection was dominated by chikankari and beiges. Loved almost every piece.

my favourite piece

NIKASHA:

Do not have much to say. Did not like her collection that much.

SURILY GOEL:

The collection did not have a lot of interesting pieces. But the use of colour green was good. Honeycomb looked like the inspiration of her collection. The collection is very wearable. I loved this particular jumpsuit. It simple and pretty!

PANKAJ & NIDHI:

When I read the tweets of fellow bloggers about the collection, I was excited to see the collection. And when I saw the pictures, I absolutely loved them! This is what I personally like. Show me embroidery in beautiful colours and I will immediately fall in love with it. I like that Pankaj and Nidhi have maintain their signature style in every collection.

NAMRATA JOSHIPURA:

Namrata Joshipura’s show was also almost everybody’s favourite and now I know the reason. She kept in mind the fact that its autumn/winter and designed her collection accordingly. sweatshirt over skirt, leather, velvet were things which I liked about the collection. Its wearable yet creative. I also liked the colours.
